William T. Mahar Jr.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, William (Bill) Thomas Mahar, Jr., 62, longtime resident of Milford, NH, and business owner of GTA Auto, succumbed to the cancer that had sidelined him for many months. Bill was born on July 31, 1963, in Rochester, NY and made home of many locations. Connecticut for a short time and Foxboro, MA where he spent most of his formative years. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William T. Mahar Sr and Marjorie (Batherson) Mahar. He is survived by his sister, Mary Mahar, Brother-in-law, David McNamara of Castle Rock, CO, Nieces, Aislinn Nichols of Castle Rock, CO, and Ceara Ford-McNamara of Parker, CO.

Bill was known to be a risk taker early in his life, sharing many stories of demolition derbies and car races of his early adult life, often recounting the slant 6 that would never die. The antics of fun carried through into his adult life as he would not be averse to driving a junk car off a jump in the back of his property. Notably, the infamous Lincoln “continental air” which was said to have attained remarkable flight.

He was a kind and caring man who lived his life on his own terms and valued everyone who contributed to his spirit, professionally and personally. The memory of his deep, signature belly laugh will forever brighten the spirits of those who gave him the right jokes or caught him at the right time. Bill will be missed tremendously for more reasons that words can describe.
