Stuart Kirkfield

Stuart Kirkfield, loving husband to Vivian for 50 years: father to Jason, Peter and Caroline; grandfather to Joshua, Emily, Jeremy and Sophie, departed life’s train for Willoughby at sunset on Saturday, May 5, 2018.Stuart was an educator and financial guide to many, as well as a lifetime bamboo fly-fishing aficionado and author of “The Fine Bamboo Fly Rod: A Master’s Secrets of Restoration and Repair”, whose favorite memories were of laying out the line using self-tied flies in the rivers of Connecticut and Colorado with his wife, children and cherished friends Gerry Mullen and Mike Stephens. Stuart was a self-taught artisan, restoring fine bamboo fly rods and antique fountain pens, painting in watercolor and writing in calligraphy. Stuart was a seeker of wisdom who now continues his quest for learning of a higher nature and will be dearly missed.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Boston, c/o Development Office, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
