Stephen R. Heinlein, 65, resident of Amherst, NH, died on November 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Plainfield, NJ on April 10, 1951, the son of Robert and Andrea (Taylor) Heinlein. He was raised and educated in Summit, NJ. Steve attended the University of Wyoming and Mitchell College in New London, CT where he studied Hospitality. Afterward he was Food and Beverage Director at The Copley Plaza, Boston, MA; The Biltmore Hotel, Providence, RI; and The Mansion on Turtle Creek, Dallas, TX. Upon leaving Texas, Steve decided to switch careers to the medical field in order to help people. He became an Emergency Medical Technician and lived and worked in New London, NH. Later he went to school to be a Respiratory Therapist and worked for many years at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Most recently he and his wife Julia lived in Portsmouth, NH and Amherst, NH. He enjoyed outdoor sports and activities like kayaking, skiing and bicycling, and also loved cooking, music and playing the guitar. Steve was a true gentleman, a romantic and a supportive friend and husband, and most of all, he loved his dog Abby. Steve leaves behind his beautiful wife, Julia; his Mother Andrea Heinlein; two sisters, Karen Malsch and Debra Frost; niece Lisa Zander; nephew's Adam Spagna and Rick Rodriquez; and other great nieces and nephews and cousins. No words can express how Steve will be missed by his family and friends! He left us with joyous memories. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 4-7pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, November 18th at 11:00 am in the Village Bible Church of Amherst, 25 ½ Middle Street, Amherst, NH, 03031. A gathering will follow at the Heinlein family home in Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Pease Greeters, PO Box 22311, Portsmouth, NH, 03802-2311.
