Shirley A. Carl

Shirley A. Carl, 92, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Ledgewood Bay Assisted Living, after a period of declining health.

She was born on August 29, 1934, in Malden, MA, a daughter of the late Egidio and Victoria Binda.

Shirley was raised and educated in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. She would later marry Richard L. Carl and together began their family in Malden and later moved to Milford, NH, in 1969. It was there that she and Richard raised their three sons, Mark, Michael and Matthew. Shirley worked for over 20 years for the town of Milford in the Planning and Building Department. 

She and Richard enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing and being with family. Shirley was a devoted mother to her three sons and a loving wife to her husband Richard.  She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.  

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Richard L. Carl in 2023.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-laws, Mark and Becky Carl of SC, Mike and Laura Carl of Milford, NH, Matthew and Lisa Carl also of Milford, NH, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, her brother, Peter and his wife Margaret Binda and her sister, Mary and husband Mark Feetham.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Burial will conclude in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
