Ronald L. Porio, 77, of Amherst, New Hampshire, passed away on February 4, 2026.
He was born on July 7, 1948, in New York City, son of the late Peter and Catherine (Garda) Porio. Ron was raised in Elmhurst, New York. He and his wife, Diane, met while in grade school at Resurrection Ascension School in Queens, New York. He graduated from Baruch College, City College of New York, in 1970, and served as an officer in the United States Army Reserve from 1970 until 1981. Ron was a sales executive in the legal publishing industry for most of his career. He and Diane raised their family in Middletown, New Jersey, where they lived from 1979 until 2016, before retiring in Amherst, New Hampshire.
Ron took up skiing as an adult after Diane suggested it would be a good way to spend time with his children, and he kept skiing into his 70s with his children and grandchildren and an annual trip with his buddies to Colorado. He loved traveling with Diane and their friends, touring Italy, Greece, Germany, England, Scotland, and all over the United States. He started playing golf in retirement. He’d be the first to tell you he wasn’t very good at it, but it gave him a chance to spend time outside with Diane, his friends, his sons-in-law, and his grandsons. He loved reading the Wall Street Journal with a martini in hand and talking politics. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his wife, his children and their spouses, and his eight grandchildren, cheering on all their successes and offering words of wisdom when they needed them. He will be missed dearly by all of them.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Diane Porio, of Amherst, New Hampshire; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Megan Porio, and their children, Alexandra, Grace, and Madelyn, of Madison, New Jersey; his daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Scott Bryson, and their children, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Patrick, of Amherst, New Hampshire; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Christopher McNulty, and their children, Camryn and Henry, of Auburn, New Hampshire; and his sister, Phylis Porio, of Crown Point, Indiana.
