Ronald Robert Fischer, 65, resident of Merrimack, NH, died on February 19, 2025, in Boston, MA while undergoing treatment for cancer.
Son of the late Robert and Rosemary (Pirie) Fischer, Ron was born on February 24, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised and educated on Long Island, NY (Hauppauge High School, Class of 1977). He earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Class of 1982) and enjoyed a long career as a commercial pilot.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his half-sister, Carolyn “Cookie” Geissler.
Survivors include his wife, Heather (Brown) Fischer of Merrimack, NH, his two daughters, Susan and Katherin Fischer both of Merrimack, NH, his siblings, twin Donna Kurk (Brian), Karl Fischer and Robert Fischer (Melanie) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was happiest in the sky as he could, and would, fly almost anything. He had a successful career as a pilot with American Airlines for 34 years and retired last February as a Boeing 777 Captain. During his life and career, he towed banners, was a flight instructor, and Aircraft A&P mechanic, flew skydivers, freight, helicopters, model airplanes, drones Cessnas, 727’s, MD80’s, 767’s, 737’s, and 777’s just to name a few. He was an avid skydiver with over 1000 jumps, a certified parachute rigger, a tandem skydive instructor and even made some base jumps from bridges and antennas.
Ron was creative, ingenious and the ultimate tinkerer. He was unpredictable, always up for adventure and fun. Conversation was never Ron’s weak spot, and could chat on a variety of topics. He was also the person many of us trusted our lives to on a regular basis.
