Robert Arthur Lapointe, of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at their home on July 6th, 2026.

Robert ("Bob" to his family and friends) was born on December 29th, 1949, in San Jose, California, the son of Henry Arthur Lapointe and Patricia Ann Lapointe (Birmingham), both of whom were originally from Salem, Massachusetts. Bob's parents moved to California, where he and his sister Judith were both born.

Bob would often and fondly reminisce about his family packing up the car every weekend and traveling to Lake Berryessa in Napa County, where they enjoyed boating, water-skiing, swimming, and camping. Bob was an avid swimmer. Bob was very close to his family, spending countless hours alongside his father learning everything from boating and car repair to carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Bob and his sister Judith were very close growing up and remained so throughout their lives.

Bob graduated from Camden High School in 1968, and following in the footsteps of his father and uncles, enlisted in the United States Navy in October that same year. Bob served four tours in Vietnam as a diver conducting underwater demolition. He was Honorably discharged in December 1970.

Bob worked many years for AT&T/Pacific Bell as a lineman. In 1989, he moved to Amherst, New Hampshire, where he transitioned to telecommunications equipment installation and later started his own business as an independent contractor. It was during one of his contracting jobs that he met Mary Ann Kearney, whom he would marry in 2005. Bob then received a class A Commercial Driving License and began driving semitrailer trucks until he retired in 2024.

To those who knew Bob, he was someone always willing to help others, often using his knowledge and experience as a contractor to aid family and friends with home repairs, construction projects, lawn work, and plowing. Bob was a kind, quiet, patient, loving man. He would help anyone in need. Bob loved a good rib eye steak, he loved to cook, garden, deep sea fish, he was always in the garage working on a project. Most of all, Bob loved his family. He enjoyed visiting his stepdaughter Julianne and her husband Rusty and granddaughter Addy in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Bob was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Dennis Matchett, and niece Patricia Christopher (Matchett).

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Kearney, and stepchildren Julianne Taylor (Kearney), Sean Kearney, Timothy Kearney, son-in-law Rustin Taylor, grandchild Adelyn Taylor, sons Robert Lapointe and Jonathan Lapointe. He is also survived by his sister Judith Matchett and her children Michelle, Michael and James. Bob is cherished by many family and friends. He touched countless people's lives with his quiet, humble ways. He will be greatly missed.
