Robert A. Davis, Sr.

Robert A. Davis, Sr., 80, lifelong resident of Amherst, died on April 6, 2016. He was born in Amherst, NH on September 30, 1935, a son of Henry and Maude (Putnam) Davis. Bob owned and operated Robert A. Davis Construction in Amherst for many years and had also been employed as a machinist for O.K. Tool Company, Milford. He enjoyed spending time outside in his vegetable garden and splitting wood. He liked socializing and getting together with family and friends. Bob was a very caring and kind man and would always lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean War. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Laura A. (Pelkey) Davis; a son, Henry A. Davis; two sisters, Marvis Johnson and Clara Pelkey; and a brother, Hank Davis. Family members include a daughter, Rosemarie A. Davis of Milford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Linda Davis of Milford, and Robert A. Davis, Jr. of Nashua; a granddaughter, Alison J. Davis of VT; a sister, Beverly Pelkey of Marlborough, NH; many nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held on Monday, April 11th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
