Richard L. Danzinger, 85, resident of Amherst, NH, died on January 7, 2024 at his home.
He was born on April 11, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Leo J. Danzinger and Dorothy (Schmidt) Danzinger. Richard was raised and educated in Des Moines, having graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1956. He received his bachelor’s degree in Technical Journalism from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. Richard continued his education at Northeastern University, Boston, MA and Rivier College, Nashua, NH.
Richard began his career working as Marketing Communications Manager for Sanders Associates (BAE). He then worked as a Publications Manager at Northeast Electronics, Concord, NH. Richard was the founder and CEO of Phoenix Telecom, Rochester, NY. He also served as Vice President of Product Planning of Telesciences CO Systems, Moorestown, NJ. Richard retired from Sonus Networks, Inc. of Westford, MA, where he participated in the development of Voice Over the Internet (VoIP) equipment for telephone company central offices.
He and his wife Nancy, owned and operated Greeley Gardens, Amherst, NH. They maintained large gardens with 250 different daylily species at their home.
Richard was a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Milford, NH and was a previous member of the Unitarian Universalist churches in Nashua, NH, Rochester, NY, Germantown, PA, and Manchester, NH. Richard served as the Chief Financial Officer and trustee for NH-VT District of Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and trustee for Northern New England District of UUA.
Family members include his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy (Powers) Danzinger of Amherst, NH; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael J. Danzinger and Lisa, Jeffrey A. Danzinger and Kathleen, William J. Danzinger and Jeanni Hicks; five grandchildren, Jeanine Lessard, Natasha (Terrance) Shepherd, Kaitlyn (Cody)Alves, Sarah Danzinger and Jack Danzinger; four great-grandchildren, Taelyr Lessard, Nolan and Carter Alves and Brendon Shepherd; a sister, Dee Ann Danzinger.
There are no visiting hours. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00pm in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Milford, 20 Elm Street, Milford.
