Norman Charette, 92, resident of Wilton, NH died on March 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua surrounded by loving family after a brief illness.
He was born on August 29, 1931, in Fort Kent, ME, a son of the late Damase and Isabelle Charette.
Norman was raised and educated in Fort Kent, Maine. Following high school, he relocated to Connecticut where he entered the United States Army Signal Corp. where he specialized in Morse Code. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he lived in Massachusetts and Vermont where he raised his growing family.
He later moved to Wilton, NH where he worked as the Vice President of manufacturing for many years at PVA. Norm was a longtime member of Bent Burke Post #10, Wilton.
He married his wife, Carolyn (Minutelli) in 1986 and together they enjoyed many years of traveling and time spent with family and friends at their cottage in York Beach, Maine. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed woodworking, reading, and telling many stories of his past.
In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his many siblings, his son, Paul Charette, and 2 grandsons.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Carolyn Charette of Wilton, NH, his children Gayle Charette and her wife Heidi of CA; Bonny Charette of WI; Scott Curtis of Manchester, NH and Lori Mandel and her husband Kedon of Peterborough, NH; his four grandchildren Sharon, Jillian, Cameron, and Lily; two great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH 03055. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. A private burial will be in the spring at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wilton, NH.
