Mildred B. Barrett

Mildred B. Barrett, 97, wife of the late Ernest L. Barrett, of Milford, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27th, 2026. She was born on December 18th, 1928, in Somerville, MA, the daughter of Ernest and Mary Jane (Deamon) Law.

As a child, Mildred lived in Medford and Somerville, MA. She graduated from Medford High School in 1946 and was active in the Glee Club. She loved to sing and won a cake with her cousin Florence on the radio show Community Auditions. She enjoyed watching John Wayne movies in Teele Square and going to Revere Beach with her friends. After graduation, she worked as a typist for John Hancock Insurance in Boston, MA.

She met her husband, Ernest Barrett, roller skating at Baboosic lake. They married June 26th, 1949, and settled in Milford, NH where they raised their family. They started a small family business, MB Mimeographing, out of their home. Mildred was also a homemaker, a school bus driver, and helped her husband with bookkeeping for his business, Barrett Motor Sales, in Amherst, NH. She was a longtime member of the Milford Lioness Club, serving as President and volunteering at their many fundraisers and events. Mildred and Ernest loved dancing to the George Ines Band at both Baboosic Lake and the Manchester Country Club. She enjoyed raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her last few years, she lived at Fairview Senior Living in Hudson, NH.

She is survived by three of her children, Carolyn Barrett of Hudson, NH; Deborah Stucchi and her husband Tim, of Hudson, MA; and Jeffrey Barrett and his wife Renée of Gloucester, MA. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Holly Munsie, Jeffrey Smith, Lisa Duprey, Katie Hammerstrom, Amy Candela, Peter Stucchi, Sam Barrett, Paige Barrett and Jack Barrett, and her nine great-grandchildren. 

Mildred is predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Ernest Barrett, her daughter, Sandra Whippie, and her great-granddaughter, Aubrey Duprey.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Milford, NH.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
