Michael J. Thomas

Michael J. Thomas, 78, resident of Milford, NH, died on August 17, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Leominster, MA on July 1, 1941, a son of the late Joseph D. and Barbara (Smith) Thomas. He was raised and educated in Brookline, NH and graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1959. Michael made his home in Brookline and Milford all of his life. He had been employed as the Director of Facilities-Operations for The Nashua Telegraph for many years and also at Harborside Healthcare Center, Milford. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at County Stores, Milford. Michael was a member of the Bent Burke Post #10, American Legion, Wilton, a 20 year member of the Brookline Volunteer Fire Department, and the Granite State Auto Club. He loved trains and antique cars. In addition, he enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and playing cribbage. He proudly served in the Army National Guard of New Hampshire and was honorably discharged in 1969. Michael was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family and especially family card nights. Family members include his wife of 53 years, Donna L. (Farnsworth) Thomas of Milford; four children and their spouses, Beth Johns-Thomas and Donna of Nashua, NH, Michael S. and Lisa Thomas of Spencer, NC, Kristen and Chad Marcum, and Katherine and Keith Weston all of Brookline, NH; eight grandchildren, Harry Thomas and his wife Emily, Seth LaVallee, Amber Bennett and her husband Taylor, Jordan Thomas, Celene Johns-Thomas, Shane Marcum, Serena Thomas, and Ella Marcum; three great grandchildren, Olivia LaVallee, Colton Bennett and Ava Thomas; a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Lloyd Locklin of Winterhaven, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen D. and Cynthia Thomas of Englewood, FL; several nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline.
