Mary T. Ireland

Mary T. Ireland, 90, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on December 23, 2015 in Meredith, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Glencoe, OH on January 1, 1925, a daughter of Pietro and Giovanina (Luzzi) Santinelli. Mary made her home in Milford for more than 75 years. She had been employed at Coleman’s Pharmacy in her early years and was the manager at the former Stickney’s Clothing Store for many years. Mary was a member of the Harley Sanford Post #4368, VFW Auxiliary. She held many offices and was on many of the VFW’s committees. Mary was also President of the VFW Auxiliary for several years. As a member of the Milford Historical Society, she was Chairman of Membership for four years. In 2010 she won the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, having served in the Souhegan Valley Chapter of AARP. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Milford, and a member of the Women’s Catholic Club. Mary was also a singer in The Golden Smoothie’s for fifteen years. Mary was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, great grand grandmother and great-great grandmother, and so much more. She touched many people in her 90 years and will be greatly missed. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends and being in service to her community. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard D. Ireland who died in 1984; four brothers, Richard, Gustavi, Mario and Julio Santinelli and a sister, Pierina Santinelli. Family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Albert Ducharme of Meredith, NH, and Stacey Mason of Milford, NH; two grandchildren, Marcey Mason and her companion, Chris Labonte, and Nathan Mason, all of Milford; three great grandchildren, Kaleigh Hensley, Michael Mason, and Ashley Mack; one great-great grandson, Jamison Mack; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Wednesday, December 30th from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will be private in West Street Cemetery, Milford. A reception will follow the mass at the VFW Hall. Active Pallbearers will be Albert Ducharme, Chris Labonte, Nathan Mason, Michael Mason, Steven Santinelli and Tyler Santinelli.
