Loretta D'Alleva

Loretta (Buono) Lane, beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at her home in Milford, NH. She was the widow of the late Anthony D’Alleva and the daughter of the late Carlo M. and Eleanor (Sullo) Buono.

Raised in Somerville, Loretta was part of a large and loving family, including her late siblings Irene Rose, Loraine Lepore, Eleanor Vargas, Carlo Buono, Joseph Buono, Richard “Rocky” Buono, and Nicholas Buono. She made a lasting impact in her community as a devoted daycare provider at Sesame Lane Daycare, a caring lunch lady at Salem High School, and a passionate caterer through her own business.

Loretta was known for her warm hospitality, welcoming everyone to her kitchen table. No one left her home hungry; her table was always filled with laughter and delicious meals, regardless of the time of day. She cherished her time spent with family, whether it was enjoying themed dinners, sharing moments at the casinos with her sisters, or taking scenic drives to Maine.

Known affectionately as "Mama Lane," Loretta took great joy in her role as a mother. She could be found lacing up hockey skates and cheering from the bleachers or sewing last-minute costume fixes for dance competitions. Her deep love for her children was evident in everything she did.

Loretta is survived by her two children, David A. Lane Jr. of Townsend and Rachel A. Lane of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews. She is also remembered fondly by her former husband, David A. Lane Sr. of Milford, who remained by her side until the end.

Loretta's legacy of love, laughter, and unyielding support will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be missed.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 28th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
