Kenneth D. “Ken” McGettigan, 87, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on November 11, 2025 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH.
He was born on December 12, 1937 in Wilton, NH, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Sheldon) McGettigan. Ken was raised and educated in Wilton, having graduated from Wilton High School, Class of 1955.
Mr. McGettigan had served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard for many years and was deployed to Fort Bragg during the Vietnam War.
Ken was a dedicated employee of the Public Service of New Hampshire retiring after forty-seven years of service. He was also an active member of the community and volunteer of the Milford Fire Department. Following retirement Ken spent several years working for the company of his longtime friend Leighton A. White.
Ken enjoyed traveling to Marthas Vineyard where he spent time with his beloved wife Marge at their vacation cottage. As a devoted father and “Papa” he enjoyed spending free time with his loving family and their pets. He faithfully attended all of the grandchildren’s plays, dance recitals, sporting events, and concerts.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret M. (Bolton) McGettigan, who died in 2017; his brothers, Donald and Charles McGettigan.
Family members include his children and their spouses, Karen and Rick Ricciardi of Manchester, NH, Ken and Bobi McGettigan of Laconia, NH, Kevin and Jacqui McGettigan of Belmont, NH, Karlene and Tom Lowkes of East Brookfield, MA; grandchildren and great grandchild, Patrick, Elliott and Kit, Kelsey and Dan, Tony, Andrew and Emily, Erin, and Keri; siblings, Robert McGettigan, James McGettigan, Dorothy Callaghan, Maggie and Len McAuliffe, Helen Koehler and Ellie McGettigan; sister in law Diane Bolton and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 19th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 20th at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald Street, Bedford, NH.
