Julia E. Griffith, 73, resident of Mont Vernon, NH, passed on August 17, 2025, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. She was born in Providence, RI on September 26, 1951, the daughter of Donald E. and Cora L. Brown. She was raised and educated in Providence, RI, Muncie, IN, Riverside, RI, and East Providence, RI, having graduated from East Providence High School. Julia continued her education at Barrington College in Barrington, RI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy & Education.
Julia went into the mission field and was a missionary in Japan, where she taught English and shared the love of God through the sponsorship of the Riverside Convent Church in Riverside, RI. She continued to be a witness to others for the rest of her days, through the love that she demonstrated towards all who crossed paths with her.
She was a musician, e.g. a flutist, pianist, and guitarist. She taught countless music lessons over the course of life. Julia was a teacher of music, art, and early education, she spent her whole life teaching others whether it was full time employment, or an extra job on the side, she never stopped educating anyone that expressed an interest in learning. She devoted her life to her family, teaching, music, and always helping others however she could. She was a “Modern Day Mother Teresa.”
Besides music, teaching others, and always helping anyone in need, Julia also loved classic literature, baking favorite recipes, and collecting shells at the beach. Julia would always tell her children, “the shells are the sea’s jewels”, and “I am from the ocean state, the ocean calls to me.”
She was survived by her husband, Richard Griffith. Family members include 4 children, Nathan Griffith, Joel Griffith, Amy Griffith and Hannah Griffith, as well as 6 grandchildren: her brother, Guy Brown as well as nieces and nephews.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 25th at 10:00 am at the International Harvest Church, 542 Mast Road Suite 6, Goffstown, NH.
