John A. Cotter Sr. (Jack), 83, resident of Greenville, NH, died at his home on August 26, 2025, after a period of declining health.
He was born on February 14, 1942, in Lowell, MA, a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Latham) Cotter.
Jack was raised and educated in Lowell, MA. He graduated from barber school, received his license, and worked for Charlie's Barber Shop as well as at the Nashua Mall. He later started and operated his own business, Jack's Barber Shop, at 2 different locations in Nashua, NH.
He was a devout Christian, and participated in Bible reading programs, served in a choir, Evangelism Explosion, and a Mexico missions trip. He also supported several other ministries. He is safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus.
Jack was an avid Boston sports fan, enjoying the success of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics in recent decades. He had season tickets for 15 years after the Patriots moved to Foxboro.
He loved music, including hymns and 50’s and early 60’s favorites. He was a collector of vinyl records from that era, as well as stamps, coins, and sports memorabilia. He had an affinity for Arizona and the American southwest, having made several trips there to explore.
John possessed a classic Irish temperament: lots of humor, strong opinions, storytelling, and a friendly, welcoming attitude.
He will be missed by all, and we look forward to seeing him again in God’s timing.
In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Jeannine (Lavoie) Cotter.
Survivors include his loving wife Bonita L (Merrill) Cotter of Greenville, NH, his 2 children, John Jr. and his wife Anjulie Cotter of Jaffrey, NH, and Julie Ann Cohn of Milford, NH; his 6 grandchildren: Justin, Jonathan, and Juliana Cohn, and Shannon Seppala, Bethany Rodriguez, and Jennifer Cotter; one great-grandchild, Juniper Cohn; one brother, Edward (Skip) Cotter and wife Marie Cotter, and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
