Jane Comstock Savage, 88, a longtime resident of Amherst, NH died on February 24, 2016 at Carlyle Place, Bedford, NH. She was born in Essex, Connecticut on May 22, 1927, a daughter of Leonard E. and Marion (Dibble) Comstock. She had lived in Bedford for a short time and formerly made her home in Amherst for many years. Jane taught elementary school in Hollis, NH for many years and worked as a real estate agent in the area for a period of time. Jane also enjoyed her work as a volunteer at the Amherst Town Library and was an avid painter with a great interest in art. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Savage, LTC, Ret., U.S. Army. Jane is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Savage and Robert Whalen, and Julia Savage; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lynn Savage; two grandchildren, Sadie Ide Sinkler and Kevin Ide; and two great grandsons, Morgan Sinkler and Luc Sinkler. There are no calling hours. A private burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.
