Henry J. Smith Iii

Henry J. Smith III “Smitty” 69, resident of Milford, NH, died at his home on March 22, 2017. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on August 25, 1947, a son of Henry J. Smith II & Christine (Dyches) Smith. Henry was raised and educated in Georgia .He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in South Korea. He had been a resident of Milford for the past 11 years and formerly resided in Georgia and Nashua, NH for many years. Smitty retired from New England Telephone Company/Verizon after 31 years of service and was currently employed for Continental Paving Company, Hudson, NH as a hazmat driver. He was a member of the Nashua V.F.W and the American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in his yard and wood working. A devoted husband, father and grandfather he most especially loved spending time with his family. Family members include his loving wife of 49 years, Joanne (Poland) Smith of Milford, a daughter; Tina M. Case of Milford. Five grandchildren; Kristen Case, Michael Case, Katie Rackliff, Jeremy Cutter and Danielle Vallee. Great-grandchildren; Lillian Case, Alex Rackliff, Megan Rackliff and Elizabeth Rackliff . Three brothers; Thomas Smith of Georgia, Leonard Cook of Ohio and Eugene Cook of Florida. A sister; Delores Evans of Georgia. Many nieces & nephews Visiting hours are Saturday March 25, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home 63 Elm St., Milford, and NH. Burial will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Hudson, NH at a later date.
