Harold B. Smith

Harold B. Smith, 87, resident of Laconia, NH, died September 5, 2008 at his home.� He was born in Wilton, NH on January 13, 1921, a son of the late Rupert & Anne (Balmforth) Smith.� Mr. Smith resided in Laconia for the past year and was formerly a longtime resident of Milford, NH and wintered in Lakeland, FL for many years.� He had been employed as a mechanical engineer for Stone & Webster, Boston, MA and Bailey Meter Company, Belmont, MA.� Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.� He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.� Mr. Smith was a communicant of St. Patricks Church, Milford, and a member of Milford Council Knights of Columbus #3035.� He was predeceased by his wife, Mary T. (Romeo) Smith, who died in 2000.� Family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. & Jim Rowe of Laconia, NH; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Smith of Burlington, MA; several nieces and nephews.� There are no calling hours.� A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 10th at 10:00 am in St. Patricks Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford.� Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.� In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Share Program, P.O. Box 27, Milford, NH� 03055.�
