Gerald Stephen Reilly, 91, of Milford, NH passed away peacefully on July 14th, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Manchester, NH. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances M. Reilly.

Born in 1934 in Boston, MA, Gerald was raised in Roxbury, MA by his parents Oville and Lawrence Reilly. He is survived by his three children Joseph G. Reilly (Lynn Reilly), Rachel A. Reilly (Jeff Cordova) and Jason S. Reilly (Dana Blythe), and one lovely granddaughter, Samantha C. Reilly. He is predeceased by his siblings: Larry Reilly, John Reilly, Alice Pugh, Eileen Kennedy, Marie T. Burke, and by his predeceased son Mathew Reilly.

Gerald obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and a master’s degree in Education Psychology from Boston College, and a certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Cognitive Psychology from Rivier University in Nashua, NH.

Before going to college, he was drafted to serve in the Army, as a PFC, during the Korean War. After graduating, he began working as a History Teacher at Whitman Hanson Regional High School. He later became a School Guidance Counselor doing cognitive testing, and then a Career Counselor for Haldane Associates. Next, he became Director of the New Hampshire College Night School in Nashua and finished his career teaching history and psychology classes at a variety of local NH colleges.

Gerald was passionate about learning. He loved meeting new people and discovering new places. He loved history, particularly US History and had a collection of books on a variety of people and places. He also loved photography and took many pictures of family, friends, nature and his favorite city, Boston. He loved poetry and was particularly fond of poetry relating to nature, New England, reflections on life, and Irish poets and sayings. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he and Frances traveled to Ireland.

Visitation will be held at the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm St., Milford NH, Friday September 12th from 5 to 8 PM. The funeral will be held at the Unitarian Church of Milford, 20 Elm St, Milford NH on Saturday September 13th at 11AM with reception to follow. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt.
