Eugene C. Curtis, 79, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died on November 27, 2025, in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH, after a period of declining health.
He was born on December 11, 1945, in Cambridge, MA, a son of the late Albert H. Curtis II and Anne (Simpson) Curtis.
Eugene was raised and educated in Weston, MA, and was a graduate of Northeastern University, with a degree in Engineering. He worked for many years at Sanders Associates, now known as BAE.
He married Diane L. Wills and together made their home in Amherst, NH for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping his neighbors, was able to fix anything, skiing, motorcycles and being with his family. As a teen, he was a counselor at Camp Union in Greenfield, NH. He taught swimming, sailing, and riflery. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Colonial Hills Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Curtis of Amherst, NH, his four sons and daughters-in-laws, David and his wife Monica Curtis of CT, Daniel and his wife Kimberly Curtis of VA, Andrew and his wife Lani of NH, Benjamin Curtis of NH, his twelve grandchildren, Abigail Curtis, Adam Curtis, Alison Curtis, Anna Curtis, Kai Curtis, Anderson Curtis, Zoë Curtis, Darchelle Curtis, Titus Curtis, Jack Curtis, Luca Curtis and Avery Curtis, his brothers, Paul Curtis, Alan Curtis, Jonathan Curtis, one sister, Penelope Curtis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH, 03055. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Village Bible Church of Amherst, 25 ½ Middle Street, Amherst, NH. Burial will be Monday, December 15, 2025, in the Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, MA.
