Donald R. McGettigan, Sr., 72, lifelong resident of Wilton, NH, died July 15, 2008 at St. Josephs Hospital, Nashua, NH.� He was born in Wilton, NH on February 25, 1936, a son of the late Charles O. & Dorothy (Sheldon) McGettigan.� Mr. McGettigan had been employed as a technician for Draper Energy Company, Wilton for 35 years.� More recently, he had worked at Market Basket in Milford.� He was an active member of his community having served on the Budget Committee for 37 years, Wilton Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years and as a part time Police Officer. � His many memberships included the Hillsboro County Law Enforcement Association, LeClair-Caron-Pelletier Post #13 American Legion, Greenville and the North American Family Campers Association belonging to "Squaw-No-Cook" Chapter #30, Leominster, MA.� He enjoyed camping along the east coast with his wife and many members of his camping club.� In addition, he enjoyed fishing along the Cape Cod Canal and spending time with his puppies, Buddy and Sassie.� Mr. McGettigan was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard and was called up to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.� He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Wilton.� Mr. McGettigan was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Tighe) McGettigan who died in 1998. Family members include his wife, Eva (Wiles) McGettigan of Wilton, NH; a daughter, Debra A. McGettigan of Milford, NH; three sons, David M. McGettigan and Daren M. McGettigan, both of Wilton, NH, Donald R. McGettigan, Jr. of Milford, NH; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles & Laura McGettigan and James McGettigan, all of Wilton, NH, Robert & Jane McGettigan, Kenneth & Margaret McGettigan, all of Milford, NH; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy & Frank Callaghan of Rochester, NH, Helen & George Kochler of Plainfield, NH, Margaret & Leonard McAuliffe of Portsmouth, NH, Eleanor J. McGettigan of Wilton, NH; 7 step children; 14 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.� Calling hours are Friday, July 18th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH.� A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 47 Maple Street, Wilton, followed by cremation.� Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wilton, at a later date.� In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Open Cupboard Food Pantry, c/o Sacred Heart Church, P.O. Box 111, Wilton, NH� 03086.�
