David (Dave) William Fessenden Jr. (11/7/1942-6/10/2024) was born in Washington, DC to Thelma (Beaubien) and David Fessenden. He grew up in Glen Echo, MD graduating from Walt Whitman High School and attending what is now Montgomery College. He moved to Rockville, MD and over the next 29 years extensively remodeled his nearly century old home.
Dave worked for C&P Telephone company for 29 years, retiring at 49 years old before moving onto OSP telecom consulting for a few years. He moved his family to Brookline, NH in 1998 where he put his remodeling hobby to work, lovingly restoring the home previously belonging to his grandparents. Other hobbies included gardening, RV’ing, touring of historical sites, classic car shows, ice cream and family history.
In his retirement, Dave was president of the Fessenden Realty Company for 23 years and president of the Brookline Historical Society for 15 years. He was proud to have helped oversee the building of the society's barn used for exhibition of many previously un-displayed artifacts related to the town's history. It also brought him joy to see the expansion of interest among townspeople in Brookline's history over the course of his time as part of the historical society.
Dave was predeceased by his parents and brother, Stephen. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Amy (Jones) of Brookline, NH and their sons Scott (Jennifer) of Mason, NH, Ross (Andrea) of Nashua, NH, and a son and daughter from a prior marriage of 15 years to Genevieve (Ginger Gray) of Traphill, NC, David III (Patricia) of Elkin, NC, and daughter Linda (Daniel) Varner of Frederick, MD. He took great pleasure in watching and teaching the next generations including nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. He was always happiest when surrounded by family.
Memorial Visiting Hours are on Monday, July 15th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH.
