Cynthia A. Micavich, 78, of Amherst NH, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, with her family by her side, after a tragic fall in her home.
Cindy was born on August 5, 1946 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to her loving parents Laurence and Doris Demers. Cindy graduated from Merrimack College in 1968 and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Salem State University in 1975. After teaching in Haverhill and Westford, Massachusetts, Cindy took a course in computer technology being offered to a select few educators. She started at an entry level computer technology job in 1982. By the time she retired in 2010, Cindy was the Senior Vice- President and Chief Information Officer at Polaroid. Cindy’s intelligence combined with her compassion made her a natural leader to her colleagues.
What Cindy was most proud of and truly cherished, was her family. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, John, along with her adored sons John Micavich, his wife Marcela and Keith Micavich and his wife Colleen. Cindy also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren- Cole, John, Addison, Claire and George.
Also adored and loved by Cindy were her cherished sister Marlene and predeceased husband, Leon and her beloved brother Dr. Laurence Demers and his wife Susan, along with her treasured brother-in-law Mike Hannon and her precious “sister” Joyce. Cindy was also predeceased by her infant son Kirk Micavich. Cindy also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who she held dear.
Cindy and her husband John were strong supporters of our military veterans, both financially and volunteering time.
She will always be remembered for her caring, compassion, and selflessness. Her life was centered on helping and mentoring others, and she was the first person to provide meals to anyone in need, express kind words and demonstrate love for any person that needed it. Everyone who Cindy met became a friend to her and knew they could count on her for anything.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH for their unwavering compassion and utmost professionalism while Cindy was there. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of Cindy.
