Caroline Mae Jowders, 86, resident of Milford, NH, died July 25, 2008 at Harborside Healthcare Center-Crestwood, Milford.� She was born in Nashua, NH on September 29, 1921, a daughter of the late Carroll & Gertrude (Pirovano) French.� Mrs. Jowders was raised and educated in Milford and graduated from Milford High School.� A graduate of Symms-Arlington School of Nursing in Arlington, MA, she had worked as a registered nurse at Friendship Manor, New Ipswich, NH and Easter Seals, Manchester, NH.� � She owned and operated the former Village Shop on the Oval, a gift and card shop.� � Mrs. Jowders was a life member and Past President of the Harley Sanford Post #4368, VFW Auxiliary, Milford, Past District 6 President, Past State President of NH VFW Auxiliary, Past National VFW Auxiliary Color Bearer, Patriotic Instructor and Council Member #1, Past Eastern State Conference President of the VFW Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW National Home, and life member of the DAV Auxiliary, Chapter #1, Manchester, NH.�� For 30 years, she worked bingo at the VFW.� In addition, she volunteered much of her time to the United Way of Nashua, March of Dimes and gave patriotic speeches for groups and schools in the area.� Mrs. Jowders was a faithful supporter and participant in the annual Milford Memorial Day and Labor Day Parades. � She enjoyed knitting, bowling and most especially, dancing.� Mrs. Jowders was a member of the Second Congregational Church, Wilton, NH.� She was predeceased by her first husband, William A. Nadeau, who died in 1954.���� Family members include her husband of 51 years, Richard D. Jowders of Milford; four sons and daughters-in-law, Perry D. & Roberta Nadeau of Fitzwilliam, NH, Gary A. Nadeau of Wilton, NH, Daniel R. & Elizabeth Jowders of Milford, NH, Brendan & Susan Fay of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Marcia A. Lappa of Millinocket, ME; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Gail & Guy Malanson of Hamden, CT; several nieces and nephews. � Memorial visiting hours are Wednesday, July 30th from 11:00 am 1:00 pm�in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.� A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home.� Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wilton, at a later date.� In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH� 03101 or Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW Auxiliary for Cancer Aid and Research, P.O.
