Byron G. Gayman

Byron G. Gayman, 82, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died on August 9, 2023, at Bedford Falls, Bedford, NH.

He was born on October 21, 1940, in Brownsville, PA, the son of Glen and Catherine (Dietz) Gayman. Byron was raised and educated in Marianna, PA, having graduated from West Bethlehem High School, Marianna, PA, Class of 1958. Byron was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA and Northeastern University, Boston, MA.

He had been employed as an electrical engineer for 39 years before starting his second career as a financial advisor.

Byron enjoyed gardening, camping, sailing, and learning various subjects of interest. He also spent over 30 years vacationing with family and friends at their home in Bridgton, ME.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gayman, who died in 2017 and survived by brother Kenny Gayman and sister Sandy Mesler of Pennsylvania.

Family members include his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth (Stewart) Gayman of Amherst, NH; three children, Jeff and Andrea Gayman of Groton, MA, Scott Gayman and Sherri of Ashland, MA and Susan (Gayman) Sheehan and Brendan of Medfield, MA; four grandchildren, Ryan and Ava Gayman, Caeli and Emma Sheehan.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, August 15th from 3:00-6:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:00am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, Amherst, NH. A lunch will follow the service at 12:00pm at the LaBelle Winery, 345 State Rte 101 Amherst, NH.
