Bobbie R. Canada, 92, longtime resident of Brookline, NH, moved to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH, after a period of declining health.
He was born on November 5, 1933, in Saulsville, WV, a son of the late John and Idella (Sizemore) Canada.
Bobbie was raised in the mountains of Saulsville, WV and graduated as a Machinist in 1951 from Wyoming County Trade School at Pineville High School, in Pineville, WV. He continued his education in electronics through the military as well as receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Science from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, Mass.
He met Marilyn (Bushman) at 20 years old in Belleville, Ill. He said she was always happy and laughing. They loved to do things together and they married in 1956. They moved to NH in 1967 and made their home in Brookline. Bobbie worked as an electrical engineer for many years. He was a founding member of the Brookline Ambulance Service and remained a volunteer till just a couple of years ago, serving his beloved town for over 47 years. He was also a longtime member of the Brookline Historical Society, American Legion, a church founder & elder for the Light of the World Church in Milford, and a youth pastor for 25 years at the Baptist church also in Milford, NH.
Bobbie greatly enjoyed being with his family, his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved to travel to Pittsburg, NH and back to his hometown in WV where he loved the outdoors, specifically hiking the mountains in both of those locations. He enjoyed reading many types of books & magazines, but his favorite book was The Bible. Taking what he learned from The Great Book his greatest passion was helping those in need.
In addition to his parents, Bobbie was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn Canada, his daughter, Susan Levesque and son-in-law, Bruce Bourgeois.
Survivors include his two daughters, Cheryl Bourgeois of Brookline, NH and Sandi and her husband Wayne Sarette of Goffstown, NH, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Souhegan Valley Christian Church, Hollis Road, Amherst, NH. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, Saturday May 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
