Beverly R. Shea

Beverly R. (Sherman) Shea, 87, of Nashua, N.H., died on March 20, 2018 at Pine Pointe House in Haverhill, Mass. In her last days, she was surrounded by family, including her grandsons Dylan M. Thompson of Nashua, N.H. and Peter Elwell Radcliffe of Asheville, N.C., her nieces Brett Sherman and husband Stanton Eckstut of New York, N.Y. and Kitt Lee and husband James Lee of Benicia, Calif. In addition to family, she leaves behind close friends, including several with whom she had attended high school in Milford, N.H. Born in Nashua in 1931, daughter of the late Stephen R. and Mary E. Sherman, and sister of the late Charles H. Sherman, Bev was raised in Lyndeborough, N.H., graduating from Milford High School in 1948. After high school, she married and became mother to Stephanie, who predeceased her in 1998. Retiring after many years working, Bev became active in her Homeowners’ Association leading to serving as the president. She was an avid and highly skilled knitter right up through the last months of her life. This past year, despite her illness, she made a set of baby blankets and donated them to a friend’s church. Bev was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and good humor, including with the flock of birds she carefully fed and watched from her balcony. Spending most of her adult years in Wilton and Nashua, Bev remained fond of her hometown Lyndeborough, remembering the one-room schoolhouse she and her brother attended as children and the old post office where her aunt was postmistress. In 2013, Bev presented to the Historical Society of Lyndeborough a hand-blown glass globe she had inherited, which was made at the Lyndeborough Glass Factory sometime between 1868-1888. The globe is now on display at the J. A. Tarbell Library in Lyndeborough. A memorial service will be held on April 28th at 1:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Donations in memory of Beverly may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or at www.cancer.org
