Barbara W. Carleton

Barbara W. Carleton, 83, resident of Greenfield, NH, died November 13, 2010 at Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH. She was born in Manchester, NH on December 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Mahoney) Wheeler. Mrs. Carleton resided in Greenfield for several years and formerly lived in Clarksville, NH for 31 years. She was self-employed as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed baking and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. In addition, she was a member of the Greenfield Congregational Church. Mrs. Carleton enjoyed spending time with her family and was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by a son, John Caswell. Family members include her husband, Robert W. Carleton of Greenfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Ray Gendron of Milford, NH, Cindy and Michael Broderick of Wilton, NH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Marcia Caswell of Harrisville, NH, Tim and Jan Caswell of Greenfield, NH; a step son, David Carleton and his wife, Joleen of Milford; 11 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Lou Wheeler of Bedford, NH; several nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 21st at 2:00 pm in the Carter Memorial Hall at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, 1 Verney Drive, Greenfield, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Greenfield Congregational Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 341, Greenfield, NH 03047.
