Alice E. Hayward

Alice E. Hayward, 89, longtime resident of Milford, NH and Naples, FL, died on April 11, 2026 at Ledgewood Bay, Milford, NH.

She was born in Newport, NH on September 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Lewis and Germaine (Pouliot) Bassett of Milford, NH.

She was a lifelong resident of Milford and was employed by Hitchiner Manufacturing Co., as an engineering secretary. Later, she was employed for twenty-eight years at the Milford Middle School as a school secretary.

Alice was active in the Milford Lion’s Club and a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.

She was an avid sports fan of baseball and football and spent time at many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Alice spent the last 56 summers camping in Cape Neddick, ME. Since her retirement in 1993, has spent winters in Naples, FL enjoying many activities.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace B. Hayward, who passed away in 1984.

Family members include her son, Gary Hayward of Milford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Byrd and her husband Steven of Milford, Kelly McCaleb of Milford; four grandchildren, Markalyn Howard, Skyler Byrd, Stefan Brehm and Kenzie McCaleb; three great-grandchildren; Tayja, Jaylin and Brode Howard of Milford.
