Alberta Bernice Finch

Alberta B. Finch, 89, of Milford, NH, died December 18, 2008 at her home following a brief battle with cancer.� Alberta was born on October 9, 1919 in Portland, Maine, a daughter of Andrew & Minnie (Cushing) Anderson.� She attended Portland Schools, graduating from Deering High in 1937.� She worked for Rines Brothers Department Store and retired after many years as head of housekeeping at Maine Medical Center.� Alberta was past president of the Ralph D. Caldwell American Legion Post Auxiliary and Past President of the Osteopathic Hospital Guild of Portland.� In 1979, she and her husband moved to New Hampshire where she was active as President of the Souhegan Valley Chapter of AARP and co-chair of the Brookline, NH AARP. She was a member of the Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23 American Legion Auxiliary, for a total of 57 years association with the American Legion.� She was Past President of Brookline Seniors Forum, Brookline, NH, a member of the Eagles of Marlborough, MA, and was appointed to the Recreation Committee of Milford, NH where she was a tour guide for their trips.� Alberta was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church, the Womens Association, and was active in Helping Hands and� the 050 Club.� Alberta was pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Ralph B. Finch Sr. and a daughter, Martha Filieo.� Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea & Jeff Goldstein of Las Vegas, NV; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph B. Finch Jr. and Laureen Finch of Scarborough, ME; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren and one Great -Great Grandchild.� A very special thank you goes out to her granddaughter, Michele Trehern for caring for her in her time of need.� A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2008 at 1:30 pm in the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 North River Road, Milford, NH.� Burial will be in Brooklawn Cemetery, Portland, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of NH, Route 101, Bedford, NH� 03110.
