Alastair Millns died on April 16, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Alastair was born in London, England in 1943. His parents were Frederick Leslie Millns and Elizabeth Sarah Johns. His father was a career Royal Navy officer, and the family moved around England extensively. He was educated in schools in England and then gained his degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He worked in a wide variety of manufacturing roles in England, Nigeria and finally in America, where he retired as President of Nim-Cor Inc. in Nashua, NH. On retirement he drove a school bus for Hollis School District for many years; he particularly enjoyed the sports trips where he both drove the students to the games and then encouraged them to win. Alastair served on the Merrimack Planning Board for many years, and for 14 years was on the staff of the Miss New Hampshire Chapter of the Miss America Scholarship Program. Alastair is survived by his best friend and partner, Kathy Shea and her family of Erin and Tony Hampshire and their children, Paige and Ryan, and Kevin and Jessica Shea and their daughters, Emilyn and Eliana. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the ASPCA.
