Van E. Berg, 70, of Mont Vernon, NH, formerly of Safety Harbor, FL, died unexpectedly at his home on August 11, 2022. He was born on October 27, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Edward and Evelyn (Hirsch) Berg and was raised in Flushing, Queens. Van was the star running back at Flushing High School, a sport he continued playing through his time at SUNY Cortland. A longtime resident of Safety Harbor, FL, Van helped many through his activities as a plumber and contractor, a coach, and a Boy Scout leader. He was known by his loved ones as a dedicated father and grandfather, a jokester, an excellent baker, and the handiest man. Van was dependable and generous, often going above and beyond to make the lives of the people around him better. He enjoyed camping, skiing, family get-togethers, playing with his grandchildren, and riding his Harley Davidson with friends. He is survived by his children, Jon and Alexia, their respective partners Alex and Katie, two grandsons, 3 loving siblings (Nancy, Carolyn and Randy) and their partners, and numerous nieces and nephews. A ceremony in honor of his life will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Sky Meadow Club House in Nashua, NH at 12:00pm. Van will be laid to rest in Long Island, NY at a later date.
