Thomas Patrick Hayes, age 76, of Milford, NH, passed away Saturday, February 25th at Crestwood Center in Milford. Tom was born April 10th, 1940 in Evanston, Illinois, son of the late Thomas and Pauline (Leonard) Hayes. He graduated from Evanston Township High School and later from DeVry Technical Institute. Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960 where he served as Airman First Class. Among other duties, he served as an encryption equipment repairman before being honorably discharged in 1964. Before the government break-up of AT&T he worked for a number of tele-communications firms before forming his own company to provide independent service contracting to telephone companies throughout New England. Tom had a love of the outdoors and when not afield made sure that future generations of sportsmen would have the same opportunities that he had through his active participation in the Monadnock Rod & Gun Club. He was a life member who served on the board of directors for many years. He registered attendants at club functions for more than 15 years and was looking forward to the 70th annual childrens fishing derby this coming June. He was a steadfast, loyal friend who was always ready to pitch in and help out and he will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen Connors and a niece Claire. In accordance with his wishes, his cremated remains will be interred in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at two o’clock on Friday, March 3rd. A celebration of his life is planned for July 15th at the Monadnock Rod and Gun Club to coincide with their 15th Annual Family Day when Tom will be recognized for his years of service.
