Robert W. “Whitey” Fraize, 83, resident of Meredith, NH, died on July 16, 2014 at Meredith Bay Colony Club. He was born in Natick, MA on February 13, 1931, a son of John W. and Ruth M. (Snow) Fraize. He resided in Meredith for the past year and formerly made his home in Ashland, NH for 13 years. He also lived for many years in Warren, Amherst, Milford and Lyndeborough, NH. Mr. Fraize was employed as a deputy warden for New Hampshire Fish and Game for 24 years. He had also worked at the Milford, NH and Warren, NH Fish Hatcheries as a superintendent. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Fraize enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing. He was a member of Moosehillock Lodge No. 63 F & AM, Warren, NH. In addition, he was extremely proud of his Micmac heritage. Mr. Fraize served in the U.S. Army for nine years and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War having earned numerous medals and awards including the Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars. He was honorably discharged in 1962 with the rank of SP4. He was predeceased by his wife, June L. (Ballard) Fraize, who died on February 7, 2014 and a brother, Donald F. Fraize, Sr. Family members include a brother and sister-in-law, John and Ellen Fraize of Sudbury, MA; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are on Thursday, July 24th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A memorial service and celebration of their lives will be held for Bob and June on Friday, July 25th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in South Cemetery, Lyndeborough, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice Care, 780 Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
