Robert C. Halliday, 81, devoted husband of Dorothy R. (Chapman) Halliday, died on March 25, 2012 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born to Charles and Lena (Chawgo) Halliday on April 20, 1930 in Watertown, New York, where he was raised and educated. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas. A resident of Merrimack, NH for 15 years, he formerly made his home in Whitesboro, NY for many years. Mr. Halliday was employed as an Electrical Engineer for General Electric for more than 30 years. He built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He was an avid reader of history, politics, current events, computer games and science fiction. In addition, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, golfing, bowling, strategy and computer games. Mr. Halliday served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base during the Korean War. Family members include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy R. (Chapman) Halliday of Merrimack, NH; a son, Raymond Halliday of San Francisco, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Daniel Smith of Merrimack, NH; two grandchildren, Alicia Bolling and Mandy Smith, both of Merrimack. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 11:00 am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110 or the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Bedford, NH 03110, earmarked for colon cancer.
