Obituary for Richard H. Dunbar

Richard H. Dunbar, 75, resident of Milford, NH died on January 21, 2019 in Nashua, NH.

He was born on April 18, 1943 in Nashua, NH, the son of Hamilton and Felicity (Childs) Dunbar. He was raised in Amherst NH, attended Amherst schools, graduated from Bordentown Military Academy and attended Paul Smiths College. He spent most of his life in Amherst, NH and Milford, NH.

He spent many years in the insurance industry as an agent for Henderson & Whaland Insurance Agency in Nashua NH, and as an Examiner for the NH Insurance Department. Later in life he worked in the Milford & Brookline school systems. An avid skier, he spent many winters as a ski instructor at Crotched Mountain Ski Area. Dick was also a founding member of the Amherst NH Rescue Squad.

His family members include his daughter, Wendy Dunbar Valeri of Lyndeborough, NH, his son, Philip Dunbar, of Milford NH, his grandchildren Aiden Dunbar and Harper Dunbar, his sister, Penny Savard of California and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime partner, Della Papuga of Milford, NH and her children, Shannon Crete and her husband Kevin, Tracey Bottazzi and her husband Nate; and her grandchildren, Allyson, Brianne, Hunter, AJ, Cameron and Skylar.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Heart Association.

Memorial visiting hours are on Tuesday, January 29th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
