Norma Stearns Walker, 85, lifelong resident of Lyndeborough, NH died on November 1, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH following a brief illness. She was born in Lyndeborough on January 13, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Marion (Putnam) Stearns. Norma was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1949 and graduated from Nashua Business College. She had been employed at the Post Office in Temple and Lyndeborough and later worked as the treasurer/bookkeeper for the Town of Lyndeborough for almost 50 years. She was a member of the Lyndeborough Gatherers was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her many animals, friends and family. Norma attended the Second Congregational Church of Wilton. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Walker, Jr. and their son, Samuel “Sandy” Walker III. Family members include several cousins, Thomas Ercoline of Milford, NH, Putnam Ercoline of Peterborough, NH, Richard Putnam of Milford, NH and Debbi Leavitt of Lyndeborough, NH with whom she made her home; a nephew, Richard Stearns of Mobile, AL; four nieces, Debby Stearns, Anita Stearns, Denise Stearns Bowick and Susan Stearns Lewis all of Mobile, AL. . There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 1:30 PM in South Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Lyndeborough, NH; a gathering will follow in Citizens Hall, 9 Citizens’ Hall Road, Lyndeborough. Donations in her memory may be made to J.A. Tarbell Library, 136 Forest Road, Lyndeborough, NH 03082.
