Leland E. Pfluke, 75, resident of Milford, NH, died on September 20, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH. He was born on May 18, 1939 in Lee, NY to the late Royce and Florence Conover Pfluke. Lee graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1958. He worked for a tree preservation company before joining the Army in 1960. His tours of duty included Korea, Vietnam and Germany, retiring in 1984. He moved to New Hampshire and was a bartender and also owned a cordwood business. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Hitchiner Manufacturing Company, Milford. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Lee enjoyed playing cards with friends and watching golf. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Marjorie Shirley Pfluke, an infant granddaughter, Amanda Marie Martel, and his wife for the past 27 years, Polly (Dioguardi) Pfluke. Family members include two sisters, Marjorie Pfluke Trudeau and Shirley Pfluke Bristol of Rome, NY; two sons, Royce Pfluke of Topeka, KS and Peter Pfluke of Vernon, NY; two daughters, Sandra Ann Watson of Oneida, NY and Patricia Pfluke of Bridgeport, NY; stepchildren, Frances and Jeffrey Martel of Milford, NH, Michael Harris of Palmer, MA; 19 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, October 6th at 9:30 am in Riverside Cemetery, 454 Nashua Street, Milford.
