Carol L. Estabrook

On Aug. 13, 2018, the world lost a fierce Diva Warrior and heaven gained one heck of a new angel. Carol Louise Estabrook, born July 13, 1947 (a bundle from heaven in ‘47) died peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of her life, best friend and husband of 35 years, Charlie, and her children Rick and Kelly Nantel, and Cheryl, Kary and Mike Estabrook. Carol is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six siblings, more than two dozen nieces and nephews and countless friends and loved ones. A die-hard Boston sports fan, Carol found great joy (and yes, sometimes heart-ache) in watching all her teams play. But Sundays were football days. And while she rarely had a bad word to say about anyone, when it came to Roger Goodell and his conspiracy against Tom Brady, you could always count on some colorful language from Carol. So, Patriots Nation be comforted – we now have a Honey Badger in heaven watching over our boys. In life and while approaching her death, Carol epitomized grace, strength, humor and love. Known for her sharp wit and brutal honesty, she could always be counted on for support, advice, kind words of wisdom, or a not-so-gentle reminder of what’s what. “Treat others as you would want to be treated.” “Do what’s right and what’s good.” “Always take the high road.” “Be nice and help others.” “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” “Work hard and set a good an example.” “Be kind. It costs nothing.” And an all-time favorite; “Screw ‘em if they can’t take a joke.” While the family is deeply saddened by their loss, they find great comfort in knowing that their Nana, Grampa and so many other O’Brien’s welcomed Carol home. Calling hours are on Monday, August 20th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held on Tuesday, August 21st from 11:00am-2:00pm at the VFW in Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Carol’s honor to the SHARE Outreach Food Pantry in Milford, NH or the NH Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, who provided amazing care to Carol and the family during her illness. Charlie, Rick, Kelly, Cheryl, Mike and Kary ask that you spend time with your family, find joy in the little things, hug and kiss your kids, laugh at yourself sometimes and make a toast to enduring love, and the blessings of family and friendship. That is what Carol would have wished for us all.
